PAPA LEON XIV First Mass in the Vatican Grottoes


Pope Leo XIV, in Latin: Leo PP. XIV, in English: Leo XIV, in Spanish: León XIV (born Robert Francis Prevost; Chicago, 14 September 1955), is the 267th pope of the Catholic Church and bishop of Rome, 9th sovereign of the Vatican City State, primate of Italy, in addition to the other titles proper to the Roman pontiff, from 8 May 2025.

With dual citizenship, American and Peruvian, he is the second pope from the American continent after his predecessor Francis, the first in history from the United States of America, and the first belonging to the Order of St. Augustine.

In addition to English, he is fluent in Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese, and can read Latin and German.
