A Papal Conclave is scheduled to begin on 7 May 2025 in the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City to elect a new pope to succeed Francis, who died at the age of 88 on 21 April 2025. Of the 135 eligible cardinal electors, all but two are expected to attend.
